(Not) A Funny Movie

We saw a movie on Monday, one we hoped would make us laugh. Sadly it did not. SAUSAGE PARTY was jut too vulgar and repetitive to make us even smile much. Plus it's half-baked try at adding some philosophical meaning rang trite and hollow. Maybe we are just too old to find constant profanity and talk of sex amongst food items humorous. Certainly the rest of the 20-something audience found more to love.

What is the last movie that really made you laugh?

We laughed while watching ZOOTOPIA. The last non-animated movie that we found funny was last summer's TRAINWRECK. One of my favorite funny movies is A FISH CALLED WANDA.

Probably TRAINWRECK, though I got some laughs out of GRANDMA and WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT.

If I want to laugh I'll put on the great IT'S A GIFT.

My favorite, Jeff.

Zootopia. The Secret Life of Pets also looks like it could be funny. And I love the ad for Farmer's (I've seen it during the Olympics) with the dogs doing synchronized swimming in the living room.

I'm trying to think of something more recent than MEN IN BLACK, but I can't.

Just the presence of Seth Rogen was enough to make me say, "Check, please."

Might as well have called it "Nothing But D*** Jokes!" Was it worse than a SOUTH PARK episode?

Last thoroughly funny and enjoyable movie I saw was over a year ago. WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, a mockumentary about vampires living in New Zealand. I hurt I laughed so much.

Glad you enjoyed this one, Patti. I've heard it was quite good.

Sadly, comedies tend to be not funny. That said, I do have a fondness for the poorly reviewed RAT RACE -- the scene at the Barbie Museum gets me laughing every time.

No, I did not enjoy it. Must chance the heading.

Patti, why was Jennifers comment deleted ?, there was nothing offensive in it and the question that she asked was quite valid and pertinent!.

My Cousin Vinny and The Big Lebowski.

"Jennifer Croissant" is a troll who writes under a variety of obvious pseudonyms. "Her" comments only appear when there are posts about movies. I guess Patti is fed up with "her." "She" also has a tendency to pretend to be other people who regularly leave comments here.

Margot obviously did not even read this post. "She heard it was quite good." HA! I bet.

Jennifer is welcome to make comments as long as she does not insult other commenters. But why be anonymous when you have good points to contribute?

I'm not sure which film comedy I've enjoyed most recently...probably, if mildly, Robert Downey Sr.'s NO MORE EXCUSES. Alan
Abel good for most of the humor there.

In theaters, I liked GHOSTBUSTERS (slightly better than the original), KEANU (though their tv series was better) and SPY...which gives you an idea of how infrequently I'm in a cinema these days.

Relatively young people are finding SP a very lazy film, and uncritical elder folks are raving about it to Alice. Go please the world.

I saw The Secret Life of pets Tuesday and got a few chuckles out of it. My granddaughter liked it a lot.

The last movie I remember laughing at was Stripes, but I don't see a lot of movies anymore.

Raising Arizona: it was only playing in one theatre in Burbank so I went with a friend who like most of the audience was completely nonplussed by the film while I was helpless with laughter.

I haven't been to a movie theater in years and I'm racking my brain trying to remember the last time I laughed out loud at a movie - any movie. Can't remember. Lately I've been streaming EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND shows and I've been howling with laughter over those. But that's not what you asked. :)

Oh wait, I do remember a movie. CHICKEN LITTLE. I was watching it the other day with my granddaughter and there were a couple of laugh out loud moments in that. Does that count? HA!

I sat here for a full minute trying to think of the last REALLY funny film. Couldn't come up with one. Arrested Development (first couple of seasons) made me chuckle out loud.

Haven't seen the movie yet and i will see it later.
