Many, but not all of Abbott's favorites are from the classic period of the '30s and '40s.
"The Long Goodbye" by Raymond Chandler
"Double Indemnity" by James Cain
"The Big Nowhere" by James Ellroy
"They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" by Horace McCoy
"Red Harvest" by Dashiell Hammett
"In a Lonely Place" by Dorothy B. Hughes
"Phantom Lady" by Cornell Woolrich
"Pick-Up" by Charles Willeford
"Find a Victim" by Ross Macdonald
"Tomato Red" by Daniel Woodrell

The Woodrell is the closest to being obscure, and that not close. I imagine your personal checklist, Patti, has included all these folks. (Megan has good taste in actresses, as well...even if Biel wouldn't be her first choice, I wouldn't be surprised if she does well.)

Uh, though I know it's not an alliteration, she should be the "Queen," because she bows to no one. No one in her generation comes close to her side of the genre.
