Well, I guess when some people think of cars, they still think of Detroit. The fact that Michigan has no inspection system should add to the fun of the announcement below. Dilapidated cars are more photogenic than maintained ones.
A&E's reality show 'Parking Wars' series to film in Detroit.
Finding parking is never difficult here. The demise of so much housing is advantageous to the average joe.
With a unanimous Detroit City Council vote a few weeks ago, the hit A&E cable network series "Parking Wars" is coming to Detroit.
"It is reality TV," Councilman Kwame Kenyatta said about the unvarnished nature of the weekly series, which chronicles the work of ticket officers, tow operators, booters and police officers on film. My guess is that 99% of the show will be filmed in the room where people go to argue about the thousands of dollars in unpaid parking tickets. The other .01% will be tow drivers taking abandoned vehicles which no one will complain about.
Never saw a boot in Detroit or a ticket giver who wasn't riding around in their little white cars. God forbid they would actually WALK.
Did you notice the article a week after the A&E story that said Detroit was going to start to issue more parking tickets in places heretofore not policed.
Have you seen P. J. O'Rourke's DRIVING LIKE CRAZY? It's a terrific tribute to Detroit and the car industry.

These are the only two I know if but there are probably more.
I've never watched that show and I'm not sure I will, even for Detroit. I saw PJ interviewed by John Stewart on the Daily Show and it was a hoot. The book sounded like a lot of fun.
